Migrations that were stuck during the initial size calculation have been largely resolved by the new recursive scanner introduced in WP Engine Site Migration 1.2.0.
Please make sure your plugin is updated before attempting your next migration. If your migration is still getting stuck during the initial calculation, please create a new post describing your experience, ideally with screenshots or video, and we will investigate further.

I am having the same Stuck on Calculating. It did work yesterday morning, however I'm having to reset my new staging environment that I'm pushing to, and when re-running this to export from DreamHost to Flywheel getting stuck on calculating.

If you are encountering stuck migrations when calculating size, please reply here as we have a version 1.2.0 release candidate that we can try to resolve the issue. This version includes a new recursive scanner that is faster and more performant, benefitting large sites and sites with low resources. We anticipate the release being available in the User Portal by next week, but we can provide a pre-release ZIP if you are interested in testing.

I'm also having this issue happen to me - about three times with the new plugin. The second I left for about 3 hours but still got stuck. I think the wp-content folder has about 1.5Gs in it. I did attempt to use the old one but that one hit an error as well. Here's my latest migration ID which appears to be having the same issue: 49c6bd56-a203-45ec-b91b-c6823fcf04e3

Update: after 4 hours of it stuck on calculating, I cancelled, installed the old migration plugin and it finished in 15 mins.

Dan Lam: Thanks for reporting. Would you mind sharing where the source site is hosted for this particular migration?

Yup. Same here. Mine sat for 40 minutes calculating. It was moving from GoDaddy. I canceled to try to re-initiate but then was prevented by the message that it had been cancelled. I had to delete and re-install the plugin. That seemed to clear whatever needed to be cleared. The second time it went through.
Kevin Hoffman
Benjamin Tennant: Thanks for tip about GoDaddy. Do you happen to know which type of GoDaddy hosting plan was in use so that we can attempt to recreate it? Also if you can pass along a Migration ID or destination URL we can take a closer look.

Kevin Hoffman: I updated my ticket that the second attempt went through. This is GoDaddy "Managed Wordpress Ultimate" I'm migrating from. Another site on the same hosting product went through on the first time without a hitch. The migration ID that got stuck on calculating size was e82bb52d-c9cc-4cd8-8e73-4af79b5a22a9

We are currently investigating migrations that appear to be stuck during the initial size calculation. The issue is related to the creation of the scan manifest file that determines which files get included in the migration. If anyone encounters this issue and is willing to share access to their source site for troubleshooting purposes, please comment below and we will reach out to you privately for details.

Shane St Clair Thank you for the feedback. I'm the product manager of the WP Engine Site Migration plugin. I looked up your migration, and it appears that there was an error creating the scan manifest file that determines which files get migrated. The error actually occurred a few minutes into the size calculation, however it was not properly surfaced to you in the user interface. Our latest release 1.0.0-beta.23 improves the error reporting in this scenario as we investigate further.
