New plugin is soooo bad. Rarely works.

Migrations seem to always get stuck between 2-5%. We have tested this from multiple hosting providers on different sites with completely different setups. They all fail or stall. Old plugin was SOO much more reliable. Migration speed is also comparable to dial-up! It's so bad. PLEASE just restore the old plugin or improve that and provide it as a second option.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the response. We have a migration scheduled today, however that is probably too short notice. Another will likely follow in the next few days, so perhaps we can use that as a test. We have a few more sites that require migration to WP Engine, so it is vital that we have a working solution that we can be in control of.

James Wills: Sounds good. For your next migration, please try the latest version of WP Engine Site Migration 1.4.1 on the source and destination. If you run into any issues, I've emailed you a link for escalation where we can try the unreleased patch.

Hi James Wills, I'm the product manager of the WP Engine Site Migration plugin. Our team investigated a migration for you a few weeks ago, and I've just had another look at your recent attempts. One of the common traits across all of your sites is the
sv_SE
locale. When we looked into your previous migration, we found a specific file with non-UTF8 characters that was was causing a critical error when JSON-encoding the filename. We have an unreleased patch that will at least surface the filename so that we can reproduce the error and develop a solution that would avoid the error altogether.
Let me know if you'd like us to test this version on your next migration. We'd really like to solve this for you.
